Carpentry - Decking, Pergolas, and Arbors

Creating a Comfortable Outdoor Space

Imagine your yard with structures that enhance both your property and your lifestyle. A great majority of homes in the Atlanta metro area come with the standard unimaginative, rectangular deck. Useful, yes, but not really inviting. It doesn't have to be that way. Property Masters designers and skilled carpenters can transform your backyard into an outdoor oasis.

Decks - Form Follows Function

Most decks come directly off a kitchen or family room. These rooms typically have a high degree of activity, which is good reason to suggest that they have access to the outside.

Decks can be just 6 inches off the ground, but most are higher. They can come off the house just a step or two down from house level, but they can be many feet off the ground. If your deck sits high up and you may want to link it to the ground below, adding stairs with periodic landings and turns in directions. Landings are not only effective and interesting but also safe. They are great places to add pots of flowers while adding additional casual seating.

Terracing your deck can give a spectacular effect, allowing you to design distinctly different functional spaces that step people down from the highest deck level to the ground plane. The eating area, the grilling deck, the sunning deck, whatever elements you can imagine that would make your deck more enjoyable.

Creating Charming Focal Points - Pergolas and Arbors

There are some beautiful places in our yard where we would spend more time if only there was some shade. That is where arbors and pergolas are needed. Besides providing shade they create vertical height and interest while defining outdoor living space. Arbors are usually thought of as being smaller than pergolas. If you have a simple archway over a path that would be called an arbor. If it is large and covering all or part of your deck or patio what you have is a pergola. Both structures consist of posts, supporting an open of beams or lattice. Styles of garden arbors and pergolas are nearly infinite. It is always best to choose a style that compliments the architecture of your home. Arbors are particularly lovely places for relaxation and photo opportunities when roses or a flowering vine has been added.

Having beautiful space right outside your door can create much needed relaxation not to mention, it's always good to see the value of your home increase. Property Masters highly skilled home improvement professionals possess the knowledge and experience necessary to guarantee quality work at the best price.
